Economic and Personal Liberty

1. The Ohio Stand-Your-Ground law. Self-defense protections for innocent citizens who are forced to defend themselves from violent attack are on the books in 36 states, including every state surrounding Ohio.

HB381 would join Ohio with all of our neighbors and send the clear message to the criminal class: Ohio law protects the innocent citizen!

2. Constitutional Carry. In the aftermath of the coronavirus, many state governments shut down the licensing process to get a license to carry a defensive firearm for protection.

HB178, which I’m a join-sponsor of, would make the licensing system optional and make sure that the lawful, upstanding citizen can always defend themselves, regardless of whether or not government is open for business.

3. SB221, which is Senator Matt Dolan’s gun-control bill (DeWine’s). I’m an strong opponent of any legislation that attacks and erodes America’s cherished tradition of due process under the law.

Red Flag gun-confiscation legislation would severely destroy due process, which is the fundamental bedrock of American jurisprudence. I support legislation that expands Ohio’s law-abiding citizens’ ability to protect themselves and their families, and I don’t support passing new laws that violent criminals ignore anyway.
